The Kiwanis Club of Mount Vernon is excited to announce its 2022 Skagit County Prayer Breakfast honoring elected officials and leaders will be held Thursday, May 26, 2022 at McIntyre Hall in Mount Vernon. Doors open at 7:00 am, buffet at 7:30. This year marks a return to a live event after a two-year Covid hiatus, with 2020 being held as a virtual zoom event. Dr. Ismael Vivanco, Superintendent of Mount Vernon School District, will be the 2022 Honorary Chair.

Kent Egging, who served as a missionary coaching local pastors in Sweden and Russia for seven years, will be this year’s Guest Speaker. Prior to his work in Europe, Kent served as Bethany Covenant Church’s senior pastor in Mount Vernon. Kent’s experience and unique perspective on Russia will help to shed light on the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Kent, who is conversant in Russian, lived in Sweden with his wife for five years. Kent is a gifted communicator and story-teller. His speech will be titled “Tell Them Not to be Afraid”.

The major purpose of the Prayer Breakfast is to honor and pray for our elected officials and community leaders. Its history goes back to the early 1980’s. The Prayer Breakfast is open to everyone. Reservations are highly recommended as seating will be limited – RSVP at Prayer Breakfast Registration by noon, Monday May 16.

Recommended donation $20 per entrant for the general public.

McIntyre Hall COVID precautions for the event: masks are optional, but strongly recommended.
